They say that Bangkok has something for everyone, and it is never more evident than in a shopping trip. The city has shops to suit all budgets - from the bargain stalls JJ Market (Chatuchak aka), the elegant shopping district of Thong Lo.
Sure, there are the air-conditioned malls that populate Ratchaprasong and Siam Paragon and Central World. They are full of western designer shops (complete with western design inflated prices, something for Thailand luxury import tax), but want something a little more local?
The Thong is an area famous for its unique and local shops that are frequented by Bangkok's high society, both Thais and expatriates. Walking a few blocks from the main street of Thong Lo, it is possible to provide enough business for the whole house and find closet.
So, here's my favorite thong trip thing.
Start with the Park Thonglor Tower, a kind of high-end department stores chocked full of design and home furnishings imported, Armani Casa, Fendi, Ralph Lauren, furniture.
Continue north along Thong Lo, until the illumination of the house, a place full of bright chandeliers weight, the price is beaten nearly as hard.
Cross the street and walk south until you reach a shop called Metta. Metta is a clothing store for women, where clothes are soft and thick lines, luxurious fabrics, all in a variety of colors. Perfect for any place in the world, not only the heat of Thai society.
Continuing in the same direction, you will come across a business with a very unique concept - Scarlett dress and serve delicious sugary treats dessert in addition to their "beautiful dresses. Clients can sit and enjoy your dessert, but also look at the clothes around the shop screen.
Not far from Scarlett is a very nice boutique hotel full of wonders gas called lifestyle. This three-level store is full of all kinds of high-end items that do not necessarily need but definitely want. These are the kinds of things that add an extra wow factor to your favorite room.
Exhausted from all your shopping? Take a break and have a cappuccino in the newly opened elegant Ducati Cafe, just opposite the Ducati Store. If you're hungry, you can choose from a good selection of meats, pastas, burgers, salads and sandwiches.
And then, when you upgrade again to explore the rest of Thong Lo. Venture through the small side streets (are called) and discovering hidden secrets and great finds to show their friends back home. It is a complete shopping experience. You can think of it, take regular breaks to be very stressful as shopping in this heat!
How to get there:It is very easy to take a cab Thong Lo. Easy to get to, and tell the driver Thong Lo (pronounced Tong Law). It should be along the main street and turn called Sukhumvit Soi Sukhumvit 55 (Thong Lo aka street). It's a good idea to take about two or three minutes on the road before getting up and starting your walk, because not many shops of interest in the beginning of the road.
